Organising an event in Helsinki

The City offers many types of support for organising events. Event organisers must make sure that all necessary permits, notifications and other arrangements have been taken care of well in advance before the start of the event. The form on the City of Helsinki website allows you to acquire the necessary permits from the City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division, Culture and Leisure Division, Rescue Department and Port of Helsinki.

Display your event in city’s event calendar

Organisations and other actors have a chance to have their events displayed on different websites of the city of Helsinki.

You can instert the information of your event through a form, so your event will be shown in the city’s event calendar.

Booking City of Helsinki facilities

You can use the online service Varaamo to book facilities for outdoor events without having to apply for a permit. The facilities are suitable for open events for up to 200 people. Please read the user information on the website. We also offer resident facilities for organising activities.

Financial support

The City provides approximately 70 million euros of financial support to organisations, communities and resident groups in Helsinki each year. The activities of supported organisations must be directed at residents of Helsinki.

The City of Helsinki Social and Health Committee also grants financial support to organisations, communities and foundations in Helsinki operating to support and complement the services offered by the Social Services and Health Care Division.
