HMW TALKS: WORKSHOPS

Description

The evening's program encourages discussion, participation, and bringing your own ideas to the table with a low threshold, and you can get answers to questions such as: – How and where should you start your own creative industry business? – How do you get your music distributed to international labels? – How do you turn your own event idea into reality?

HMW TALKS is part of the Helsinki Music Week festival, now being organized for the second time. In addition to the most exciting club and alternative music of the moment, the week includes two HMW TALKS evenings, free and open to everyone interested in the music and events industry. The program is in English.

16.00–16.45 | Turning Creative Ideas into Reality with the Support of Business Helsinki Experts: Budgeting and creating a business plan are often the most challenging parts of creative projects, especially when establishing a company built on creative expertise. Business Helsinki’s experts will guide you in navigating the local creative industries ecosystem and explain which services you can use when developing a creative business idea or seeking early-stage funding.

17.00–17.45 | From Concept to Crowd: How do you turn a DIY idea into a major event? The organizers behind Solstice Festival and Helsinki Music Week talk through the reality of production, community building, and managing a venue in the current climate.

18.00–18.45 | The Sonic Lifecycle: This workshop covers the journey of a track from the first demo to international distribution. You will hear from the people behind the Helsinki based indie label BELOW0 and Doran Jones, Label manager at Mad Decent, the global label and distributor founded by Diplo. They will break down the practical side of finishing music and getting it into the right hands worldwide.
