Techinque Tuesday

Description

The Environmental Activities Youth Work Unit will provide hiking, climbing and canoeing workshops focusing on technique and safety. The content of the days is slightly more educational, yet strongly activity-based. (ACTIVITY DOESNT TAKE PLACE IN SEIKKAILUTALO. LOOK INSTRUCTIONS BELOW)

At the hiking workshop, we will focus on subjects such as hiking equipment, orienteering and hiking areas in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. 

At the climbing workshop, we will go through safety measures, climbing technique and safe courses of action on tall rocks. 

At the canoeing workshop, we will discuss canoeing technique, handling a kayak and a canoe, as well as staying upright and solving problem situations.

In summer, you can access Vartiosaari by the Aurinkolautta ferry from Laajasalo (Reposalmentie 2). We will gather at the Vartiosaari forest church and walk to the Stocka shore together. You can find the forest church on Google Maps. 

Käärmekallio is located in the vicinity of the Ikea store in Vantaa. You can find the place by using Google Maps with the search words ‘Käärmekallio climbing rock’.
